The Five Functions of the Human Resource Management

Depending on the nature of the business there will be many separate human resource functions,but when it comes basically the main core areas are,
  • Staffing
  • Comeensation  & Benefits
  • Training & Development
  • Talent Management
  • Safety & Compliance
but in most large organizations, these functions may be split.   Howver these all hR departments share the same bassic HR functions. lets take a brief look at each of the core human ressources functions.





Staffing

     Means ensuring always that the organization has proper number of employees with the appropriate skills in right job at right time to the organization to achieve organizational objectives.

  • Job analysis:- this is the process of determining skills, duties and knowledge required to perform the jobs

  • Human resource planning:- which means matching the internal and external supply of people for the job in correct time periods

  • Recruitment: - the way of attracting people to the organization in correct time in sufficient number with the correct qualification they need.

  • Selection:- this is the final step of staffing process which is choosing the best one who can work smarter to the correct position in the organization



Compensation & Benifits

This includes all the rewards that the workers receive as result of the work they have done. This includes the following types of rewards.

  • Direct Financial Compensations: - it includes all the wages, salaries, bonuses etc.
  • Indirect Financial Compensations:- all other financial other financial rewards except direct compensations e.g. sick leave, holidays etc.
  • Non-Financial Compensations: - the satisfaction that the workers get by doing the job itself.




Training & Development

This involves the following steps,

  • Training:- this provides knowledge and skills to do the present job (job Specific)
  • Developing:- this is done in the use of future jobs to be given off
  • Career planning:- this process helps to individuals get through their own goals
  • Organizational development:- planning of improving organization structures system and improving the effectiveness and achieving desired goals
  • Performance Management:- this is mainly focused on the maximizing the productivity of employees and then last the organization
  • Performance Appraisal:- the way of measuring the efficient of the individual or teams which performing the tasks



Talent Management

Sometims called Employee realations, talent management is ahuman resources function that broadened beyond the tradiitional boundaries of enforcingadgearence to company policiesand procedures. The goal is to improve performence and giving the organization a competitive advantage by creating integrated processes.





Safety & Compliance

If you can provide a safety and healthy environment for the employees this will help to get a long term benefits from them. Safety professionals may not be a part of HR, but there will be a practitioner in the department or more than one working with to provide required safety training or to monitor.
